How PitStop & Go, a Fredericton NB tire and detailing shop, collects, uses, and keeps your personal information — and your rights under PIPEDA.
PitStop & Go collects, uses, and discloses personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable New Brunswick legislation. We collect only what we need to deliver the service you've asked for, we don't sell your information, and we hold it for only as long as we have a legitimate business or legal reason to.
When you book a service, shop with us, fill out the contact form, or sign up for our customer portal, we collect: • Your name (first and last). • Your phone number — required so we can confirm and follow up on your booking. • Your email address — optional, used for written confirmations and receipts if you give it to us. • Your vehicle information — year, make, model, and tire size where available. • Notes or messages you choose to give us about the work. • Your booking and visit history with us. • Payment metadata returned by our payment processor (e.g. transaction IDs, last four digits of the card). We never see or store full card numbers; raw card data is handled exclusively by our payment processor on their PCI-compliant infrastructure. • Basic web analytics (page views, device type, approximate region) only after you accept analytics cookies through the banner.
We use the personal information we collect to: • Deliver the tire or detailing service you have booked. • Contact you about your appointment, status updates, and pickup readiness via SMS, phone, or email. • Issue invoices and receipts and process payments and deposits. • Maintain warranty, workmanship, and tax records as required by Canadian law. • Respond to enquiries you send through the contact form or by phone or email. • Operate, secure, and improve this website and our internal systems. We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone. We do not use your information for unrelated marketing without first asking your consent.
We share personal information only with: • Our payment processor, in order to charge deposits and balances. • Our hosting and database providers (Vercel and Supabase), which store the data on our behalf — see our Third-Party Services policy for the full list. • Government and regulatory authorities where required by law or to enforce our rights. • A successor entity in the event of a sale, merger, or reorganisation of the business; any successor will be bound by the same privacy commitments.
We keep customer, vehicle, and booking records for seven (7) years from the date of your last interaction with us. This retention period reflects Canadian tax-record requirements (six years) plus a small buffer to support tire-workmanship and warranty claims. Records subject to a legal hold or active dispute are retained for as long as the hold or dispute remains open. After the retention period, records are securely deleted or anonymised.
Under PIPEDA you have the right to: • Access the personal information we hold about you. • Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date. • Withdraw consent for non-essential uses (such as marketing) at any time. • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements (tax records, active warranty claims, ongoing services). We use industry-standard safeguards: encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the entire website, row-level security in our database, environment-isolated secrets, and limited access for staff on a need-to-know basis. No system is perfectly secure, but we monitor for unusual access and respond promptly to suspected incidents.
Our services and website are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently received information about a minor, please contact us and we will delete it.
