PitStop & Go
Frequently asked questions

Straight answers. No guesswork.

Pricing, tires, seasonal changeovers, and everything Fredericton drivers ask us most.

Booking & Availability

Do I need an appointment for a tire change in Fredericton?

We strongly recommend booking online in advance — especially during peak seasons like fall (October–November) and spring (March–April) when demand spikes and wait times across Fredericton tire shops can stretch days or weeks. Walk-ins are welcome when we have availability, but a booking guarantees your time slot. Online booking takes less than two minutes.

Is PitStop & Go open on weekends?

Yes, we are open both Saturday and Sunday. A lot of Fredericton drivers can't get away during the week, so weekend availability is something we deliberately maintain. Saturday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM. Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

How long does a tire change take at PitStop & Go?

We are the fastest tire shop in Fredericton. An on-rim tire change takes 10 to 20 minutes, and an off-rim change — which includes mounting, balancing, and installation — takes 20 to 40 minutes. Tire repairs are done in 15 to 20 minutes, balancing in 15 to 30 minutes, and TPMS sensor installs in 10 to 25 minutes. These are real times, not estimates padded with buffer.

Are you open on Sunday?

Yes — PitStop & Go is open every Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, one of the few tire shops in Fredericton open on Sundays. Monday through Saturday we're open 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Book online any time or call (506) 248-6006.

Do you take walk-ins?

Yes, walk-ins are welcome whenever we have an open bay — many of our Google reviews are from same-day walk-ins, including Sundays. That said, a two-minute online booking guarantees your slot, which matters most during the spring and fall changeover rush.

Pricing & Services

How much does a tire change cost in Fredericton?

At PitStop & Go, pricing is transparent — no surprises when you arrive. An on-rim tire change starts at $35 for a full set. An off-rim change starts at $70 and includes mounting, balancing, and installation, plus complimentary tire shine and tire bagging. Tire balancing starts at $45 and includes balance and reinstallation. Rotation starts at $35 for a full set. Tire repair starts at $45 and comes with an interior patch and a leak-proof guarantee. TPMS sensor installation starts at $50 and includes balancing and installation.

How much is a seasonal tire changeover in Fredericton?

A seasonal changeover at PitStop & Go starts at $35 for a full set if your winter and summer tires are on their own rims (on-rim swap), or $70 if we're dismounting and remounting on one set of rims (off-rim change, balancing included). The exact flat rate depends on your vehicle size — the online booking flow quotes it live before you confirm.

What is the difference between an on-rim and off-rim tire change?

On-rim: your winter and summer tires are each already mounted on their own rims. We simply swap the full wheel assemblies — pull one set off, bolt the other on. Fast (10–20 min) and cheaper ($35+). Off-rim: your tires are stored without rims — just the rubber. We dismount from your current rims, mount the new set, balance everything, and reinstall. Takes longer (20–40 min) and costs more ($70+). Investing in a second set of steel rims for winter ($40–80 each) saves you money and time every season.

Can a flat tire be repaired, or does it need to be replaced?

Many flat tires can be repaired rather than replaced. We perform interior patch repairs — the only industry-approved method — starting at $45, with a leak-proof guarantee. A tire can typically be repaired if the puncture is in the central tread area (not sidewall or shoulder), the puncture is smaller than 6 mm in diameter, and there's no structural damage. Tires with sidewall damage, large tears, or bead damage cannot be safely repaired. Got a nail in the tread and still holding pressure? Drive carefully to us — we can likely patch it in 15–20 minutes.

Seasonal Changeovers

When should Fredericton drivers switch to winter tires?

The rule of thumb across Canada: switch to winter tires when daily temperatures consistently drop below 7 °C. In Fredericton and across New Brunswick, that typically means mid- to late October. Below 7 °C, all-season rubber hardens and loses grip — stopping distances increase by 30–50 % on wet or icy pavement compared to winter tires. Winter tires are not legally required in New Brunswick (only Quebec and BC mandate them), but 94 % of Atlantic Canadian drivers use them. Don't wait for the first snowfall.

When should I switch back to summer tires in Fredericton?

Switch back when daily temperatures consistently stay above 7 °C — in Fredericton, typically late March to mid-April. Driving on winter tires in warm weather significantly accelerates wear (soft rubber degrades faster on warm pavement) and reduces fuel efficiency. In New Brunswick, studded tires must be removed by May 1. Spring and fall are our busiest periods — book your changeover in February or March / September or October to lock in a convenient time slot.

Tires & Brands

What tire brands do you carry at PitStop & Go?

We stock a wide selection across all price ranges. Premium: Michelin, Bridgestone, Continental, Pirelli, Goodyear, BFGoodrich, Firestone. Mid-range: Yokohama, Toyo, Hankook, Nexen, GT Radial. Value: Sailun, Laufenn, Hifly, A-Plus. Not sure which is right for your vehicle and Fredericton driving conditions? Call us at (506) 248-6006 — we're happy to help.

What is a TPMS sensor and do I need one?

TPMS stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System — the electronic system that monitors tire air pressure and triggers the dashboard warning light when pressure drops. Most vehicles made after 2008 are TPMS-equipped. If you switch between two sets of rims (summer and winter), you may need TPMS sensors on your winter rims — otherwise your dashboard warning light stays on all winter. TPMS supply and install starts at $50 including balancing; if you supply your own sensor, installation is a flat $25. A TPMS relearn is $20 and a diagnostic is $50 — waived if a repair is booked the same day.

Do you offer tire balancing and rotation?

Yes. Both are available as standalone bookings. Tire balancing — from $45. Included with every off-rim change. Recommended every 15,000–20,000 km or when you feel vibration at highway speeds. Tire rotation — from $35. Rotating every 10,000–15,000 km evens out wear and significantly extends tire life.

Detailing

How much does car detailing cost at PitStop & Go?

Detailing is priced by package tier and vehicle size, and every price is published on our detailing page. Interior details start at $100, exterior details at $80, and full details at $170 for a small vehicle (compact or sedan). Prices rise by tier and vehicle size, up to $550 for a Tier 3 full detail on a large vehicle (pickup or full-size).

How long does a car detail take?

It depends on the package. A Tier 1 interior detail takes 1 to 1.5 hours and a Tier 1 exterior wash takes 45 to 75 minutes. A standard Tier 2 full detail runs 4 to 6 hours, and a Tier 3 full detail — our most thorough package — takes 6 to 10 hours. All detailing is drop-off only: leave the vehicle with us and we'll call or text when it's ready.

Do I pay a deposit for detailing?

Yes. Standard detailing bookings take a flat $50 deposit when you book, applied in full to your final invoice. Polish and ceramic bookings take a 50% deposit (minimum $50) because of the shop time reserved. Tire services require no deposit — you pay in-shop when the work is done.

Can you remove pet hair and stains?

Yes — pet hair removal, stain removal, heavy soiling, and odor removal are available as add-ons to any detailing package. Because the effort depends on how embedded the hair or stain is, these add-ons are quoted after we inspect the vehicle at drop-off, before any work begins.
