What does a tire change cost off the rims?

Off the rims means we dismount your existing tires from the wheels and mount your other set onto those same wheels, which includes machine balancing every wheel. A full set of four runs from $70 on a small car up to $250 on heavy commercial vehicles.

Is a second set of rims worth it?

If you change tires twice a year, the maths gets straightforward. A small car pays $70 twice a year off the rims, versus $35 twice a year on the rims. That difference compounds every season, and the changeover is faster on top of it. A dedicated set of winter rims is an up-front cost that pays itself back over several seasons.

The reaction we get at $70 for a full set is basically no reaction at all. People pay it. It is not dealership pricing, it is not expensive for what it is, and honestly most customers do not compare it to anything, they just pay the price and get on with their day. In all the sets we have done, we can think of maybe one person who said it was a bit more than they wanted to spend. What we want people to understand is that a fair price does not mean a rushed job. We treat every car and every set of wheels like it is our own. We do not scratch rims and we do not damage rims, and that care is not the thing we trade away to keep the price where it is.

What is included in the price?

Everything needed to do the job properly. Tire shine, used tire packaging, standard rubber valve stem install, valve caps, inflation to spec, and torque to spec are all included at no extra charge on every tire service. It also includes a free re-torque check at around 100 km, so nothing is left loose after the swap.
